Police are searching the house of Rochdale Labour Councillor Shakil Ahmed after his son Waheed is being held in Turkey for trying to cross the border into Syria.
Waheed Ahmed was part of a group of five adults and four children, who are related, that are being returned to the UK after they were stopped in Hatay province on Wednesday.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said officers were trying to establish their reason for travelling to the Syrian border.
