Betty Lowe, Britain's oldest Girl Guide, will be laid to rest in Salford today. The 106 year old, joined the movement in 1919 when she was just 11 years old, she was also a much-loved volunteer at Salford Royal Hospital.
Betty who would have turned 107 in August passed away recently at Beechfield Lodge Care Home in the city. She was honoured with an MBE at the age of 86 and was last year given a Point of Light award by the Prime Minister in recognition of those who have made an exceptional difference to their community.
Betty's funeral will be held at - St Paul's CE Church in Pendleton, Salford.
