Prosecution is about to open its case against Ednane Mahmood- a 19 year old from Blackburn who is charged with terrorism offences.
A 19-year-old man from Blackburn has gone on trial accused of trying to travel to Syria to engage in acts of terrorism.
The prosecution has opened its case against Ednane Mahmood at Manchester Crown Court this morning, saying he travelled as far as Bulgaria but never got to Syria.
Prosecution case is that Mr Mahmood planned to travel to Syria to engage in acts of terrorism. He flew to Bulgaria but never got to Syria.
He faces terrorism charges including sharing a terrorist publication. The trial is expected to last two weeks.
Jury told Mr Mahmood's family didn't know he was trying to get to Syria but police later found a letter which read 'I have gone to fight.'
