Two women in court over murder of Lancashire businesswoman

A court hearing of a woman charged with the murder of a businesswoman was halted after one of the defendants collapsed to the floor.

Two women are accused of the murder of mother-of-two Sadie Hartley, 60, at her home in Helmshore, Lancashire.

A murder investigation is continuing after the body of a woman was found at a house in Helmshore, Rossendale, on Friday, January 15.

Police and paramedics were called to a house on Sunny Bank Road where they found a 60-year-old woman with knife wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lancashire Police has named the woman as Sadie Hartley, though she is yet to be formally identified. A post-mortem examination is also due to take place.

The death is being treated as murder, but arrests have yet to be made.

We are in the early stages of our enquiries and are working to establish exactly how Sadie has come about these injuries. We have a large team of detectives dedicated to following all lines of enquiry.

Specialist officers are supporting Sadie’s family at this difficult time.
