The family of murdered business woman Sadie Hartley have issued a touching tribute to the "best mum we could have" and said that she was excited about her daughter's engagement just one week ago.

"We are utterly devastated and cannot begin to understand why mum should be taken so cruelly from us. The whole family is numb. She was the best mum we could have. She cared so much for our welfare and was a massive inspiration to us all. She was so excited about Charlotte's engagement just a week ago.

"The family wish to express our sincere thanks to the senior investigating officer Mr Withers and the huge team who are working tirelessly to investigate this truly awful crime, and the Family Liaison Officers who are providing invaluable support to all the family."
