England Rugby star Danny Cipriani's trial for drink-driving will continue after a judge dismissed a bid to have the case thrown out.

The 28-year-old Sale Sharks player crashed his black Mercedes into a taxi in June last year.

He is accused of being so drunk his eyes were "glazed", he slurred his words and could not stand straight after the crash.

Jurors heard that a breathalyser test showed Cipriani had 67 micrograms of alcohol per 100ml of breath - nearly twice the drink-drive limit in England and Wales of 35 micrograms.

The defence said there was not "sufficient" evidence the breathalyser test in the police station was working properly but Senior District Judge Howard Riddle ruled that Cipriani has a case to answer.
