A dramatic initiative in St Helens has won the title the Best Arts Project in the UK - Ralf Little who starred in The Royal family will help them celebrate today.
He'll present performing artists and staff from the "Cultural Hubs' project with a National Lottery Awards trophy.
The actor is famous for his roles in The Royle Family and Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps. He'll meet performers from the arts project, to offer them advice and to hand over their much deserved Awards trophy.
Over 2,000 people voted for Cultural Hubs in this year’s National Lottery Awards - the annual search to find the UK’s favourite Lottery-funded projects.
The Cultural Hubs project used their £99,000 National Lottery grant to attract over 4,500 people into St Helens libraries with a programme of activities ranging from arts workshops to drama performances.
It focuses on improving well-being through art; poet Lynne Gerrard, who credits the project with helping her to overcome her mental-health issues, will meet Ralf. The project also wins a £3,000 cash prize.
