Cowardly thieves targeted disabled man, say police

Three men who forced their way into the home of a disabled man in Merseyside and stole his safe are being hunted by police.

The men pushed the man's carer to the ground when she answered the door at the house in Halewood on Saturday.

They fled on foot with the safe which contained a quantity of cash.

The offenders are described as young men. One of them was white, of medium build and around 5ft 7in tall. He was wearing a grey Berghaus jacket, with some red markings, with the hood up and a scarf covering his face. The other two men were wearing dark clothing and had their faces covered.

"This was a despicable incident which understandably left both the carer and the householder extremely scared and upset, but thankfully uninjured.

"This was carried out against the home of a vulnerable, disabled man where he has every right to feel safe. It is appalling to think that his home has been targeted in this way by such cowardly individuals."
