It's nearly 30 years since The Smiths broke up. Now the man who wrote the music, has written his autobiography.
Born in 1963 in Manchester to Irish parents, Johnny Marr set up his first band aged 13 while living on a council estate in Wythenshawe.
In the early 80s, he met and formed a band with Morrissey. Their song-writing partnership defined the Smiths until Marr left the group in 1987.
He's decided to reveal all, in his debut book, Set The Boy Free.
He's been telling Smiths fan Mike Hall why he decided to write his side of the story now.
