Crewe Alexandra's Director of Football has been suspended by the Football Association,
It's thought Dario Gradi has been asked to to step down by the FA pending an investigation into his handling of child abuse claims.
The development comes after the launch of an FA inquiry into historical abuse allegations in football, alongside police investigations which now span 21 forces.
There are 83 potential suspects and 98 clubs involved. The NSPCC and police have referred more than 600 reports to the FA.
Mr Gradi has said he won't comment on this development but has previously denied any wrongdoing.
Last month the former Crewe manager offered his sympathy to victims of Barry Bennell, after a number of ex-footballers spoke out against sexual abuse.
