Partner of unarmed man shot by Greater Manchester Police marks anniversary

Anthony Grainger

It's five years since Anthony Grainger was shot and killed by a Greater Manchester police marksman.

The father of two was unarmed and sitting in a park car when the firearms specialist opened fire.

Police have claimed they believed there was a weapon in his car. But the Public Inquiry looking into his death has discovered their intelligence was flawed.

Today, his partner Gail Hadfield Grainger, returned to the carpark in Culcheth to lay flowers at the spot where he was killed.
