Council by-elections in Blackpool and South Ribble see wins for the Tories
The Conservative Party have regained a council seat vacated by an independent councillor who had previously been elected as a Tory.
The by-election was caused by the resignation of Andrea Ball as a South Ribble councillor after she fell out with her party last year.
Carol Chisholm easily won the seat back in the contest in the Walton-le-Dale ward. Turnout was 22%.
Elsewhere the Conservatives held the Warbreck ward seat in Blackpool. Michele Scott was elected with 54.82% of the vote. Turnout was 27.23%.
