Armed police are patrolling Manchester's Christmas Markets for the first time.
The markets open for business today and the new police presence won't always be seen - undercover officers carrying guns will also mingle with crowds.
Concrete barriers are also in place.
The heightened security comes after the Manchester Arena bombing earlier this year.
