The North West joins remembrance events across this weekend, paying tribute to those lost in conflict down the decades. Today in Rochdale there will be two minutes silence at the Town Hall to mark the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, the end of the First World War. A bugler will sound out the Last Post. In Liverpool silence will fall at the same time in the city centre and a poppy cannon will fire. Sunday is Remembrance Day with ceremonies at Cenotaphs in town centres all over the region. In Manchester there will be a civic parade of faith leaders.
