Global search for stem cell match for Stalybridge woman

A global search is underway to find a suitable stem cell match for a woman from Stalybridge who's fighting a rare form of blood cancer.

Melaine Farrell-Rhodes has A-plastic anaemia, and doctors say her chances of beating the disease would be greatly increased with a blood stem donation.

But, a lack of diversity on the blood stem register means that people with mixed heritage like Mel find their chances of finding a match reduced to as little as 20 percent. As our correspondent Amy Welch reports.
