CCTV images released after Boxing Day armed robbery

Police have released CCTV images following a Boxing Day armed robbery at a store in Marple.

Shortly after 10:55pm on Tuesday 26 December 2017, two men entered the Spar on Stockport Road armed with a baseball bat and a machete.

The men proceeded to threaten the two members of staff working in the store whilst demanding cash.

In the midst of the threats and demands being made, the man carrying the baseball bat hit one of the members of staff in the leg, causing minor injuries.

The offenders then grabbed a quantity of cash and fled the scene in the direction of Primrose Avenue.

Detective Constable Jenny Mills, of GMP’s Stockport borough, said:

These men waited for their moment of opportunity as the store was closing and struck.

Armed with a baseball bat and a machete, they used fear and intimidation to force the store assistants to hand over cash before fleeing the scene.

Thankfully nobody suffered any serious injuries but we could easily be talking about a completely different situation here.

We have released these images in the hope that somebody will be able to help us identify the men pictured so I would urge anybody with information about who this may be to please contact police.
