The silent killer: calls for compulsory carbon monoxide alarms

It's claimed landlords in the North West are putting tenant's lives at risk by not installing carbon monoxide detectors.

New figures show the region has the highest percentage of tenants without alarms in England - more than half of all rented properties.

The gas, know as the silent killer, is produced by faulty, boilers, cookers and open fires.

One man who's backing campaigns for tighter legal requirements for CO alarms is Max Schenker, whose brother died from carbon monoxide.
