'Britain's longest serving milkman' retires after 67 years

He's been delivering milk to the people of Merseyside and West Lancashire since the early nineteen fifties, but the man reputed to be the country's longest serving milkman is finally calling it a day.

Norman Bowyer started helping on his mother's milk cart when he was just eight years old. Since then, he's delivered more than 40 million bottles of milk - and even had Ringo Starr as a customer.

I'm feeling very sad, leaving all my customers and my friends, they're all my friends, after all these years delivering milk.

I've enjoyed every minute.


Norman is planning to spend his retirement taking trips around the UK and spending more time with his wife.

He was sent off from his final round with a bottle of champagne, and (of course) a bottle of milk.
