Man arrested after woman found dead in Greater Manchester

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a middle-aged woman was found dead in Greater Manchester.

Police discovered the body of a woman, believed to be in her 50s, in Argyll Road, Chadderton, on Saturday afternoon.

A 48-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and was taken into custody for questioning.

Officers are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Detective Inspector John Mulvihill, Greater Manchester Police, said: "We are still very much in the early stages of our investigation but we will do everything in our power to get the answers her family deserve.

"My thoughts go out to them at this difficult time and even though we've made an arrest, our inquiries continue.
