More mental health support for 999 calls

A new NHS support service has launched in Greater Manchester to help police deal with mental health calls.

The Vulnerability Support Unit screens 999 and 101 calls and then diverts them to officers who can provide specialist support.,

The service is delivered by North West Boroughs Healthcare NHS Foundation, in partnership with Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust and Greater ManchesterMental Health Foundation Trust.
