Men convicted of historical homosexual offences could be pardoned in a shake-up of the Isle of Man's sexual offence laws.

The government has asked people for their views on a number of measures to "modernise" legislation.

The most significant proposals are:

  • updating the definition of consent
  • reviewing sentences for offences
  • modernising the legislation relating to pornography and obscene publications
  • pardoning and removing criminal records relating to historic consensual homosexual offences
