The family of a pensioner who was murdered in her own home have paid tribute to her, saying the 72-year-old died in an 'unbelievably shocking and cruel way'.

Rosemary Shearman was killed a week ago, the same morning she was due to go on holiday in Norway.

Detectives charged a man with her murder on Saturday, but they're still appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Today, Rosemary Shearman's son described the moment he found out she was dead, and appealed for anyone with information to come forward. Greg Shearman said:

"It was unreal, it's not the sort of thing that happens to your own family. But laying flowers at her house for myself and my sister - was just terrible. "If anyone was in that area, and may have seen something, just contact the police. This is a nan, my mum, who's been taken away from us. And it's wrong. If you can help, ring the police."
