A message from an independent prep school in Ladbroke Grove was passed on to parents by other local schools. But Scotland Yard said it was unaware of any kidnap attempt.

One mother who received the text told ITV News:

It was quite disturbing. As a parent you think oh my God, did my daughter get to school safely this morning.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said:

Police in Kensington and Chelsea are aware of a number of messages in circulation on the borough.

Officers are not aware of any attempted abductions and will be liaising with local schools to confirm the origin of the reports.
