Two people are dead another person is in hospital after London and the South East was battered by the fallout from Hurricane Gonzalo.
A woman pedestrian was killed when a tree was blown down in Kensington.
A man was crushed to death under a van on Canvey Island in Essex.
And a workman has serious chest injuries after being trapped under another fallen tree in Belgravia.
Paramedics tried desperately to save the woman injured in Kensington.
The man who died in Canvey is thought to have been working under a van which was blown off a jack.
And a tiling contractor smoking a cigarette was hit by a falling tree in Belgrave Square. He was freed by his colleagues before being taken to hospital.
The high winds, forecast to hit 50 mph, also caused travel chaos with trains disrupted by leaves and trees.
A large tree crashed onto the tracks at Hampton Court, forcing South West Trains to suspend services.
