The organisers of a major event for gay students have attacked university bosses for allowing a talk by an Islamic preacher accused of homophobic views.
Shaikh Haitham Al-Haddad, has been invited to address members of the University of Westminster Islamic Society just 24 hours before the campus hosts Student Pride.
The Sharia judge from east London, has described homosexuality as a scourge, a great offence and criminal.
Pride organisers have collected 3,000 signatures to try to block his visit but the university said it was committed to freedom of speech.
Student Pride said it was a planning a demonstration when Al-Haddad speaks later this evening.
