Floating restaurant boat sinks on Thames

Adam Bolland - one of the volunteer crew along with Andy Bell and James Kavanagh at Teddington RNLI - told ITV London that they were paged at around 1am this morning and told to go to Richmond Bridge.

A restaurant boat was moored to a pontoon in Richmond which had "failed", according to the crew. On arrival the volunteers saw the pontoon sinking and moored boats listing quite dramatically; one boat was nearly vertical in the water, its bow pointing upwards.

While they were there, the tide came in very fast and they watched restaurant boat The Boat, get dragged under.

There were no casualties but the crew cleared the water of debris including picnic tables to prevent the debris from being dragged into London by the rising ride.
