The long and the short of it: London's best and worst commutes
Londoners have some of the shortest commutes in the UK in terms of distance, a new study by Royal Mail has revealed.
Thamesmead residents have the longest commute in the capital, travelling an average of 9.5 miles each way - the equivalent of travelling a quarter of the way around London.
Clerkenwell residents enjoy the shorter commute in the whole of the UK - travelling on average 3.9 miles each way.
The train is the most popular method of transport for Londoner commuters - with Beckenham residents most likely to hop on the train (36.7%) whilst Hackney commuters in E8 are the most likely to cycle (17.2%).
