Consultation ends on future of three Lewisham libraries

Lewisham Council's public consultation on the future of three of its libraries closed at midnight last night.

Branches at Forest Hill, Manor House and Torridon Road could become community run ventures, under plans to cut library funding by a million pounds over the next two years.

But campaigners say their fight to keep the libraries open continues.

They are asking residents to help by writing to local councillors and signing the online petition.

Leading South London Poet and Lewisham's honorary writer in residence Chrissie Gittins has spoken out about the changes.
