Police officer, 38, dies after collapsing in Trafalgar Square

A police officer has died after collapsing in Trafalgar Square on the way home from a night shift.

The 38 year old officer was found around 6am yesterday morning. Paramedics tried to revive him and took him to a hospital in South London, where he later died.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said the officer had suddenly become unwell and the death is not being treated as suspicious. His family have been informed.

On Facebook, the Metropolitan Police Federation paid tribute to the officer, with the hashtag #lestweforget.

The force have confirmed the death of a colleague in the early hours of yesterday morning.
