Attempt to resurrect 'Boris Island' airport

Boris Johnson is attempting to resurrect the idea of a new airport in the Thames Estuary.

The so-called Boris Island scheme was rejected by the Airports Commission 18 months ago, and the Government is now looking into expanding either Heathrow or Gatwick.

But the Mayor's office has released a report claiming a new four-runway airport - built to the east of the capital - would be better for the economy and the environment.

Speaking to ITV London Daniel Moylan, the mayor's chief adviser on aviation, said the Boris Island was a better proposition than expanding existing airports.
