No 'fares freeze' for Oyster card users
Hundreds of thousands of travelcard users will miss out on Sadiq Khan's election promise of a four year fares freeze, City Hall admitted today.
The Labour mayor's election manifesto vowed; 'Londoners won't pay a penny more for their travel in 2020 than they do today.'
But travelcard users will not be included, it emerged today, as Transport for London outlined a funding package to pay for the fares freeze.
The daily and weekly 'cap' on Oyster and contactless card fares will also continue to rise every year.
Earlier this year TfL claimed a fares freeze would cost £1.9bn but today revised the figure to just £640m.
