An inquest has been hearing from a taxi driver who witnessed the moment a teenager skidded off his moped and was flung into a lamppost.

Two unmarked police cars were following 18 year old Henry Hicks who died after crashing his scooter in Islington in December 2014.

Janaka Jayasing had two women passengers in his car when the collision happened.

He said he heard a bang and thought the right-hand side of his taxi had been hit by something. It was at this moment that he caught sight of Henry Hicks being thrown off his moped.

Talking about his reaction his statement continued:

I just came out from the car and I ran out to help him... and I see the blood was coming from his nose.

He said one of his passengers was crying in the taxi and a woman he described as "hysterical" was on the street screaming "Is that my son?".

The taxi driver said there was blood coming out of the teenagers mouth but he didn't see Henry move.
