Boris Johnson today refused to answer questions about his political future when he spoke at a news conference.
The former London mayor paid tribute to David Cameron just hours after the Prime Minister announced his resignation.
But Mr Johnson declined to answer questions from reporters when asked about his Tory leadership ambitions.
However the Uxbridge MP is expected to be the front runner in the contest to replace Mr Cameron.
Mr Johnson ignored shouts from reporters as he left the stage after making a short speech. Sources said he would give no interviews today.
I have known David Cameron for a very long time and I believe he has been one of the most extraordinary politicians of our age. A brave and principled man who has given superb leadership of his party and his country for many years. I believe the British people have spoken up for democracy in Britain and across Europe and I think we can be very proud of the result.
