Three arrested at Brixton station after 'assault on police officer'

Three men have been arrested after a police officer was allegedly assaulted at Brixton tube station.

Hundreds of commuters and bystanders gathered near the station in Brixton Road as police arrived just before 6pm this evening.

Video footage shows one man being escorted from the station by around six police officers.

A Met Police spokeswoman confirmed that one man was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer.

Two other men were arrested on suspicion of obstructing a police officer in their line of duty.

The Met also tweeted an image of a large knife that was seized from the station.
