Men were 'laying in wait' for murder victim say police

Police have launched a murder investigation after a 17 year-old was stabbed to death in Walthamstow last night.

The emergency services found the victim in a critical condition but he died later in hospital.

No arrests have yet been made. It was the second fatal stabbing in London over the weekend.

The police officer leading the investigation said he believed two men were "laying in wait" for the victim.

The teenager was walking along the High Street with one of his friends and, as they approached the junction of Buxton Road.

We believe that two men were laying in wait for them. During the altercation that followed, the 17-year-old boy was stabbed.

At this stage we are investigating whether the two suspects left the area on bicycles.
