A man shot dead as he sat in a car in Southall over the weekend has been named.
Khalid Abdi Farah, from Greenford, was fatally injured when a gunman fired into a vehicle parked outside a row of shops early on Saturday.
Armed police and paramedics attended the scene at Lady Margaret Road shortly before 1.30am from where Mr Farah was taken to hospital.
The 26-year-old was pronounced dead later at 3.32am.
Detectives are now appealing for witnesses as a murder investigation was launched.
Investigators believe a black car pulled up beside the Ford Focus Mr Farah was sitting in around 1.26am.
The suspect then approached on foot before firing directly into the car and fleeing the scene.
Detective Chief Inspector Andy Partridge said: "The route taken away from the scene has been identified as along Lady Margaret Road towards the Ruislip Road and then along the Parkway heading towards the M4.
"This route is always busy and it is possible that the manner and speed in which this vehicle was being driven shortly after 01.23 hours attracted the attention of other motorists.
"It may even be that this car has been captured by motorists with 'dash cameras' fitted. If anyone can assist with sightings or footage of this vehicle, I urge them to contact my team."
