Sharp rise in London's murder and robbery rates

There has been a sharp rise in the number of violent offences in the capital over the last year.

London saw a 49 per cent increase in the number of murders. Robberies went up by 35 per cent. And the number of people arrested for carrying a weapon rose by 27 per cent.

Met Police say they are working in 'challenging' circumstances but insist they are doing their best with the resources they have.

It's truly shocking to see these rises in homicides and violent crime such as knife crime. While overall crime levels are generally stable, these increases in some high harm crimes are concerning. Too many lives are being shattered by these violent crimes.
