A pet chihuahua was shot in the head and killed at a house in north London.
Suzzanna Day let her five-year-old dog, Lola, into the back garden as she and her three children - aged 11, nine and two - were inside the house unpacking from a recent trip.
Suzzanna thought another animal may have got into her garden - which backs onto a park - and attacked Lola.
But the vet did an x-ray and found a metal pellet lodged in her skull. The dog was shot in the St Pauls Road area of Islington on Wednesday afternoon.
Siobhan Trinnaman has urged anyone with any information about what happened to contact police on 101 or the RSPCA appeal line on 0300 123 8018.
