An 11-year old girl has won a top photography prize for her picture of Croydon.

Estelle’s photo was chosen from 400 other images by schoolchildren in the area as part of the Capturing Croydon competition.

It involved kids from six primaries being given a lens to explore the history of their hometown, from 12th century chapels to the new developments springing up across the borough.

The initiative was organised by Croydon-based education and care charity The Whitgift Foundation.

Runners up prizes were given to children in several other categories:

Overall Mood / Feeling: Alisia from Howard Primary
Community: Adnan Niaz from All Saints Primary
Naturally vs Mandmade: Lily Adams from Fairchildes Primary
Old and New: Maira from St Peters
Composition: Indra Joy from Beaumont Primary

All Saints Primary was awarded the prize for overall winning school for the strongest collection of images from the workshops.
