Lineside fire causes travel disruption for South Western Railway train passengers
Rail passengers out of Waterloo suffered severe travel disruption on Wednesday after a lineside fire.
South Western Railway passengers were advised to check their journeys and use alternative routes where possible after significant damage was caused to a number of cables and closed platforms at London Waterloo station.
Network Rail said its engineers will be working through the night to fix the damage but services are likely to be disrupted on Thursday morning.
Trains between London Waterloo, Hounslow, Richmond, Strawberry Hill and Kingston were cancelled, while services between Waterloo and Windsor & Eton Riverside were diverted via Kingston.
Passengers were warned that services on other routes may also be subject to short-notice cancellations or delays.
