Blind identical twin pianists nominated for Women of the Year

Fabiana and Paula Chávez are blind pianists who have performed concerts together across the world. The pair lost their sight as teenagers as a result of a rare genetic disorder called Stargardt Disease.

The sisters, who are from Argentina, have degree in Musical Arts from the National University of Arts in Buenos Aires. They memorise music by listening to specialist audio visual software.

The pair are have completed their masters at Trinity Laban Conservatoire in Greenwich

Fabiana and Paula want to make sure other visually impaired people have the chance to experience playing an instrument. The have launched a project called ' Piano without bars'. A worldwide initiative to help others learn.
