A man has been jailed for carrying out 10 raids on central London opticians and stealing spectacles.
Richard Royston Dyer, 50, who does not have a fixed address, threatened staff in a number of central London opticians with a bottle of liquid he said was acid. On two occasions he sprayed staff causing minor injuries.
Dyer targeted five opticians on 10 separate occasions. He was arrested when a police officer spotted him on Peter Street in Soho on September 13, the day after his last robbery. The officer tackled him to the ground and he was found to have a bottle of ammonia on him.
