Grey skies and rain have not deterred London voters from turning out in the first general election to be held in December since 1923.
Some posting on social media reported queues at their local polling stations. Alix Bovey shared a picture of a long queue saying: "In 20 years of voting in Streatham Hill, always at about this time of day, I have never encountered a queue of more than six or seven people."
In Stratford Rebecca Pate snapped a long queue for a polling station, saying: "This is the only time I'm happy to queue!"
Queues were also reported in Tooting, Clapham, Putney, Balham, Bermondsey and Earlsfield.
Polls close at 10pm.
