'Absolutely clear' customers are not using ticket offices

Sales at ticket office windows have fallen by 28 per cent between 2010 and 2013, a drop of 13m sales across the network. At the same time passenger journeys have increased by 13 per cent and ticket machine sales have risen by a fifth. It is absolutely clear that our customers are not using ticket offices as they have in the past. Today, only 3 per cent of journeys start with a visit to a ticket office and that number will be even lower following the introduction of contactless payment later this year.
