Man hit by train just after 10am

British Transport Police officers were called to the line close to Flitwick station, following a report of a man being hit by a Nottingham to London East Midlands train just after 10am this morning.

A spokesman for British Transport Police said,

“Medics from East of England Ambulance Service also attended but the man was pronounced dead at the scene. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the identity of the man and inform his family."

Delays of up to 90 minutes on journeys from Bedford to London

Two out of the four lines are now open after a person was hit by a train earlier today at Flitwick. The following changes will apply until further notice:

  • Journeys between Bedford and London St Pancras International subject to delays of up to 90 minutes.
  • A limited replacement bus service is running between Bedford and Luton
  • Trains towards London are now able to call at Flitwick, trains from London are still not able to call
