Essex nursery manager charged with child cruelty

A woman has been charged with child cruelty following an investigation into the treatment of children at a nursery.

Emma Panting, 49, manager of the Abacus Day Nursery in Billericay, has been charged with one count of child cruelty, two counts of common assault and a racially aggravated public order offence, Essex Police said.

Nursery worker Rosie Dunn, 24, of Billericay, has also been charged with a racially aggravated public order offence and has been bailed to the same date.

Woman flees train in Essex after man tries to kiss her

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man approached a woman on a train in Essex and tried to kiss her. The 31-year-old victim was travelling between Shenfield and Billericay on Friday, 22 November at 9:20am.

A man of roughly the same age approached her and sat down. He then tried to kiss her before she pushed him away and ran from the train at Billericay.
