264 hula hoops spun at the same time in new record

A new world record has been set for the most hula hoops spun simultaneously. 264 hoops made up the unique display at London's Shaftesbury Theatre, led by circus artist 'Marawa the Amazing'.

Marawa, who has spent months with her group training for the record attempt, said: "It's a difficult trick to do individually, so to get 10 of us successfully doing it at the same time is a great achievement!"

A team of Royal Marines attempting to break a World Record for the fastest Speed March Marathon were left disappointed, despite an impressive time.

They completed the course in 4 hours, 17 minutes and 21 seconds, almost 2 minutes faster than the previous record. However, the team sadly the missed out on the Guinness World Record as one member collapsed half a mile from the finish line, and a minimum of eight need to complete the course.

They took on the 26.2 mile course through Central London this morning, carrying kit and weapons weighing over 40lbs.

Despite the disappointment, David Cameron congratulated the team on their achievement when he greeted them a the finishing line. He joked: "Perhaps I should have a word with the Guinness Book of Records and see how we get on."

The marines raised £20,000 for Commando 999 for their march.

Jamie Oliver has proved he is hot stuff by setting a new world record - for chopping raw chillies.

The TV chef sliced up 10 in 30 seconds to achieve his feat during a live broadcast.

Oliver's pal and fellow chef Gennaro Contaldo set a new record for making ravioli.

Their record attempts were staged during a live launch for Oliver's YouTube channels online last night.

Adjudicators from Guinness World Records were on hand to verify their supremacy.

Afterwards Oliver told his fans he was "well happy".
