Dedicated Gurkha burial garden to be unveiled

A dedicated burial site for the Gurkha and Nepalese community of Hillingdon is being opened today.

It will have space for up to 100 graves in addition to 30 column burial units which will house ashes. A special plaque will also be unveiled at the Peace Memorial Garden in Cherry Lane Cemetery, West Drayton.

Man dies in police custody after West London arrest

A man's died in police custody after being arrested in West London. The 57-year-old, who has not been named, was held by police on Monday on suspicion of criminal damage to a car in Peachey Lane, Hillingdon.

He was taken to Uxbridge police station and found unconscious by officers early Tuesday morning. An ambulance team was unable to resuscitate him and a post mortem will be carried out later this week. An independent investigation is underway.


Two puppies stolen from parked car in West London

Police are appealing for the public's help to trace two stolen puppies. The Chihuahuas, six-month-old Max and Lilly, were left on the front passenger seat of a parked car. When the owner returned the front passenger window was smashed and the puppies were missing.

Police looking for man after crash

The police are appealing for information to trace a man they wish to speak with following a crash in Hillingdon in the early hours of Saturday.

21-year-old Umier Iqbal from Hayes is believed to be in the west London area.

Police were called just after 3am to Shepiston Lane in Harlington following reports of a Mercedes having been in a collision with a tree.

Officers and London Ambulance Service attended. Three passengers were taken to hospital.

The front seat passenger remains in a critical condition. The driver is believed to have fled the scene.

17 arrested after co-ordinated west London drug raids

More than 200 officers were involved in dawn raids in west London this morning after complaints from residents about suspected drug dealing. Co-ordinated raids took place at 20 properties in Hillingdon. 17 people were arrested for allegedly supplying Class A drugs.

Today's results are the culmination of a meticulously planned operation highlighting the commitment of officers in targeting drug dealing and anti-social behaviour which is adversely affecting the lives of law-abiding residents in Hillingdon.

Their actions have a huge impact on our community as a whole and this operation has stopped them in their tracks.

Autism campaigner's anti-bullying mission

An autism campaigner from Hillingdon is helping to raise awareness about the bullying autistic children experience, particularly during school break times.

Anna Kennedy and the Anti-Bullying Alliance have the launched "Give us a break" campaign as part of Autism Awareness month.

41% in Newham speak language other than English

Of all the regions in the UK, London had the highest proportion (22%) of people for whom English was not their first language (in the North East it was as low as 3%). And within the city, Newham stands out the most, with 41% of the population speaking a language other than English.

In all but three of the London boroughs - the City of London, Richmond Upon Thames, and Hillingdon - more than 100 languages were listed as main languages.

And Ealing now has the highest number of Polish speakers, at 6% of their population. Polish is now the second most common mother-tongue across the UK - with 546,000 speakers throughout the country.

Police raise concern for missing 11 year old girl

Hillingdon Police are very concerned for the safety of an 11 year old missing girl.

Jade Green, aged 11 was last seen on Thursday afternoon, on Uxbridge High Street.

She is described as being 5ft 2ins tall, with shoulder length dark brown hair and of slim build.

She was last seen wearing a green hoodie, a yellow top with 'Who?' written on the front, blue jeans and pink and white flat shoes with flowers on.

Detective Sergeant Glyn Jones relased this message for Jade:

"Jade, please make contact with either your family or the police. You are not in any trouble we just want to know you are safe. Your family are worried about you and if you do not want to return home then please let your family or the police know you are safe and well."

"I also appeal to the public to help us in tracing her. If anyone has seen Jade or has any information on her whereabouts they are urged to contact police."

Bleasdale finishes eighth in 5,000m final

There was disappointment for Hillingdon's Julia Bleasdale in the Olympic 5,000m final this evening.

She finished eighth - just behind her teammate Jo Pavey.

After the race she said she'd shown that she's capable of competing with the best in the world and the next stage is to become one of the best in the world.
