The police station was evacuated earlier today

A police station in Croydon had to be evacuated after an explosion on the premises just before midday. Two people were injured after the blast in the basement at Croydon Police station on Park Lane.

London Fire Brigade and the air ambulance are currently at the scene, which has been cordoned off.

A police spokesman told London Tonight that the incident is not terrorist-related. It's believed construction work had been taking place at the station.
