Notting Hill Carnival latest

Notting Hill Carnival went ahead over one of the coldest and wettest bank holidays on record. There were 261 arrests over the two day event and two police officers were hurt as violence overshadowed the second day of the west London carnival.

Preparations ahead of the first parade

Preparations are underway for the Notting Hill Carnival parade, which will take to the streets in just a few hours time.

The carnival bands start their marching from around 9am today and from the same time tomorrow.

Organisers estimate that the carnival parade should complete its procession by 7pm.
